Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre

Consultation  |  Planning  |  Writing

This new visitor centre overlooking Pitlochry Dam in Perthshire tells the story of Scotland’s massive hydroelectric schemes, built following World War II. Men blasted and hand-dug tunnels through mountains to bring 'Power to the Glens' at a time when only one Highland croft in a hundred had electricity. This feat of engineering changed rural life in Scotland forever.
I consulted with community members and subject specialists to plan interpretive exhibitions that brought out human stories, but also addressed engineering principles and salmon (of course).
