Lavenham Guildhall

Consultation  |  Planning  |  Writing

The Guildhall has served this Suffolk community for over 500 years. Founded as a merchant guildhall, it would also be used as a prison, poorhouse and wartime community centre. We chose to interpret the building's history through first-person narratives based on documented individuals associated with it over time, from a 14-year-old convict to a 20th century photographer. I worked with The National Trust and Bright to bring these characters to life. Visitors meet them as they journey forward in time through the labyrinth of rooms.
