Hermitage Park in Helensburgh has been a valued community park since 1911. The site had first been developed as private gardens for Hermitage House. Its rich history includes a mill which operated from the early 1200s until 1922 and a World War I soldiers’ convalescent hospital. I contributed to a successful NHLF application and in 2016, work began on a much-needed upgrade. I worked closely with the Friends of Hermitage Park to develop interpretive content for signage and audio components. This included copyrighting, editing oral histories and scripting fictional first-person narratives from former residents and users of Hermitage House. 'I particularly recall how responsive [Ann was] to our suggestions and making sure we felt included in shaping the final message.’ -Member, Friends of Hermitage Park |
