Canna House & Garden

Planning | Copywriting | Managing

The Isle of Canna is owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Once the home of John and Margaret Campbell, who gifted it to the NTS, Canna House now holds their archive of nationally important recordings of Gaelic speech and song, early 20th century photographs, films of island life and written records of their lifetime of research on the Gaelic language and heritage of the Western Isles.

I wrote an Interpretation Plan and Gaelic language strategy for Canna House in 2020, working with external advisors and experts. From 2022-24, I served as the Canna House Interpretation Manager to deliver the Plan. In spring 2025, the house will open for regular guided tours for the first time. Visitors will also find new interpretation integrated throughout the beautiful walled garden.
